One of the best shows on Netflix for the past few years has been You, the psychological thriller that began in 2018, following bookstore manager Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) – who also happens to be a serial killer.
Now returning for its fourth season early next year, Netflix has finally dropped a trailer and more details giving a glimpse into what’s coming next.

Season 3 ended (spoilers of course!) with the death of Love Quinn (Victoria Perdetti), who Joe met in Season 2. Over the course of two seasons Love formed a relationship with him, becoming pregnant with their child, and eventually became a killer herself. However, unsurprisingly things didn’t end well, with Love killed off by Joe via poisonous injection. Following her murder, Joe decides to move to Paris and give himself a new identity after faking his own death.

So what does Season 4 have in store? Well despite Season 3 ending with Joe moving to Paris, Season 4 is actually primarily set in London, with the show moving out of the US for the first time. Joe, now sporting a beard, has decided to start life as a professor, as seen in the first teaser trailer, and will of course see him continuing his murderous lifestyle. Speaking on Joe’s future in the season, show-runner Sera Gamble commented to Collider that “the story from here is about how he gets any of [what he cares about] back or how he finds something else, because if the Joe you met in the first scene of the pilot, where the bell rings in the book shop, and then the girl in the jeans walks in, if he had one hole he wanted to fill in his heart, now he has like 17.

Penn Badgley will of course be returning in the fourth season as Joe, and will be joined by Tati Gabrielle, also returning as Marienne Bellamy. With a whole new location and setting to explore, there’s also plenty of new series regulars that are joining, including Lukas Gage (Euphoria) and Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts), who’ll play Adam and Kate respectively. Also joining are Tilly Keeper (Eastenders) as Lady Phoebe, Amy-Leigh Hickman (Innocent) as Nadia and Ed Speelers (Downton Abbey) as Rhys.
You’ll be able to see who gets murdered and if Joe manages to change as a person when Season 4 begins on 10th February next year, when the first half of the season releases, with a second half set to arrive a month later on 10th March. Until then, you can watch the trailer above.
