Camaya Bali is made up of four individual houses, each entirely unique with a design of its own.

If you come over there, you will find a beautiful hidden place in real nature and lovely people all around of you. It is absolutely worth to see!

10/10 we would recommend. The Suboya Bamboo house is extremely stunning! Staff go over and above to ensure your stay id perfect! We Can not speak highly enough about this spot.

Staying in this unique bamboo house in the midst of Bali’s lush rice terraces is a completely unique experience. Wake up with the birds chirping in the morning and enjoy the incredible view over the quiet rice terraces from your bedroom. The bamboo house is the perfect adventure for travelers wanting to escape the crowded cities and experience a slice of real Bali.

The space
The Bamboo House is situated on the edge of a valley with stunning views over the rice terraces and the peak of Mount Agung in the distance.
On the ground floor the house has a large open space with a king bed, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom where you can shower under the open sky. The kitchen has a French press coffee maker and a juicer – you’ll find many fresh fruits from the surrounding fields and you can make yourself a freshly mixed juice any time.
There’s a hammock to chill out in and a big cuddle corner with pillows to relax. The ground floor also has a dining table as well as a bar table for breakfast or some work. The ground floor is completely open, with no doors – this is a very safe area and you’ve got nothing to worry about. Your local host Made is a resident of the nearby village and close with all the local farmers in the area and they are all very welcoming to guests coming to stay.
Upstairs is the private master bedroom with a separate bathroom (sink & toilet) – the house has a shared open shower on the ground floor. Upstairs you also have separate terrace with lounge chairs and a hanging net to chill out and enjoy the rice terrace view.

Other things to note
Breakfast is included in the price. There is also a small local restaurant where lunch and dinner can be prepared for you on request. Alternatively you can go to one of the restaurants in the little town of Selat – you’ll be provided with one free motorcycle (fits 2 persons max) – please request at least a day in advance. As this bamboo house is quite secluded, the scooter allows you to be more independent and explore the local area

LOCATION: This spot is NOT located in Ubud and it’s a 80 minute drive from the property. The house is amongst the midst of nature in the rice terraces with no shops, restaurants, ATM or mini-mart in walking distance but you can take the motorcycle for free to explore the local areas further and head into the little town of Selat.

Slaylebrity Guests come BECAUSE it’s more remote and secluded. If you are looking for something close to Ubud or you need shops and restaurants in your surrounding, we do not recommend this spot.

Checkin is at 3pm and checkout is by 12pm. This location is typically fully booked and thus unfortunately won’t be able to accommodate early check-ins, as the owners want to make sure they’ve got sufficient time to clean everything before you arrive 🙂

If you wish to smoke, please do so only on the ground floor of the house. The house is made largely from bamboo and a small cigarette could lead to a big fire.
The Bamboo House is off the grid in a very biologically diverse area of Bali. If you’re looking for adventure, nature, and relaxation, this is the place for you! The house is designed very openly and bugs and insects are a common sight as are in the middle of nature. The owners provide mosquito nets with the two king beds. However, if you get scared easily with insects or bugs, this is not the right place for you and we recommend you find somewhere else to stay.

Since you’ll be living in the midst of nature, any food (even just bread crumbs) will attract ants and other insects. Please always clean after yourselves to avoid too many earthly visitors.

There is no Aircon as the home is architecturally designed to take advantage of the natural breezes that blow through the rice terraces. The average temperature year around at night in the terraces is around 21-22 degrees celcius and thus a very comfortable temperature to sleep.
Due to high humidity, especially when it’s been raining, the towels and linen at times get very damp. If you need replacements, please let the team know and they will supply you with fresh ones.
The villa is very private and secluded, but there is another small villa next door which you can see on photo nr. 14. The area in between the two villas is covered with plants to ensure privacy.
If you want to know whether this is the right place for you, here’s what you should consider:

Advantages:
- A once in a lifetime experience unlike any place you have stayed before
- it’s very relaxed – if you want to escape the crowded cities and be surrounded by greenery, this is the place for you
- the views are incredible and during your stay you can often see villagers farming their fields below which is a beautiful scene
- your host Made is a local resident of the village. If local cermonies take place in the village while you are here, he will be happy to bring you along. It’s a unique opportunity to experience the real Bali, away from any tourists
- you have a kitchen where you can cook for yourself
- since there are no restaurants in walking distance, there’s a small local restaurant on the property, that offers simple, homemade Balinese dishes – there’s no menu and they typically cook with the ingredients that are ‘in season’ from the surrounding fields. The local host Made can prepare dishes based on your dietary requirements too
- They will provide you with one scooter for free to explore the local area. If you are more than 2 people, you can hire a car with driver through the owners as well.

Downsides:
- You are in a remote location that is located approximately 80 minutes from Ubud – people come to this spot because its in a secluded location, not because they want to be close to Ubud.
- Please bring sufficient cash as there is no ATM nearby
- The bamboo retreat is located in the middle of nature and you will have visits of “nature’s residents”. While the owners keep everything very clean, bugs and insects are normal and part of the experience and cannot be avoided as the house is designed very openly. If you are sensitive with this, this place is not suitable for you. If you leave the light downstairs on over night, please don’t be surprised to find dead insects on the floor in the morning – it naturally attracts them.
- The owners offer pocket WIFI to guests. It is not the fastest and due to location, there may be occassions where the internet is not working at all sometimes.
- while the owners provide guests as much privacy as possible, the house provides views over the rice fields where local villagers are often working during the day time. At times this can mean that local farmers are not far away from the house and can possibly look into the groundfloor.
