We’ve been wondering what Kim Kardashian’s eponymous KKW Beauty lip collection would be like since the second we saw the news drop. According to Kardashian, who posted about the new 11-piece line on Instagram shortly after the announcement, the lipsticks and liners are supposed to be super creamy and long-lasting. However, we know from experience that not all lipsticks — even ones that boast the same claims — are always created equally. So we had to try them for ourselves before giving you guys our official opinion.
After a week of waiting, the day to try them out arrived. The lip products arrived in all their clear and nude-packaged glory, and naturally, we couldn’t wait to put them to the test. As a reminder, the collection features three lip liners and eight lipsticks, all of which are different neutral tones inspired by the star’s “signature nude lip.” With the eight shades, we will say that KKW Beauty did a decent job at catering to different skin tones. We weren’t let down when it came to the texture and finish either. The lipsticks glided on seamlessly, and living up to their name, felt incredibly creamy and buttery on the lips. The liners were equally creamy but slightly less oily to help lock the lipstick in place, whether you fill in your whole lip before going over with lipstick or just line the perimeter.
“A nude lip is my signature look that I’ve worn over the years to almost every event and special moment in my life,” Kardashian West says of the launch. “I wanted to create nude lipsticks and lip liners that are easy to wear in a shade range that’s versatile for everyone.”
Here’s the shade breakdown according to the brand:
Crème Lipsticks:
* Nude 1: Light pinky nude
* Nude 2: Warm light nude
* Nude 3: Mid-tone terracotta
* Nude 4: Mid-tone cool nude
* Nude 5: Mid-tone rosy nude
* Nude 6: Deep brown nude
* Nude 7: Mocha nude
* Nude 8: Deep chocolate nude
Lip Liners:
* Nude 1: Light true nude
* Nude 2: Medium warm nude
* Nude 3: Deep brown nude
The final verdict? We were impressed with the quality and would recommend them to anyone on the hunt for a new nude lip in their life. Were they like Kardashian lips in a tube? Well, no. But they sure did do a lovely job of enhancing our natural lips and making them appear plusher.
The Crème Lipsticks are $18 per and the Lip Liners are $12 each — you can buy a set of all eight lipsticks for $144 (which is the same price as if you’d bought all eight individually). The whole line is on kkwbeauty.com these babies sell out, fast.
