Candace Owens was born on April 29, 1989 in Stamford, Connecticut, USA. She grew up in her grandparents’ home after her parents divorced. Candace has three brothers and sisters. She finished her high school education at Stamford High School while growing up in Stamford.
Owens was a survivor of racism during her senior year of high school. Dannel Malloy’s son sent her a racist death threat and threatening voicemail message. Her family was very dissatisfied with the Stamford Board of Education, which did little to secure Owen’s interests. The Owens family sued the Education Board in January 2008 and obtained a settlement of $37,500.

Candace had previously shown an interest in journalism, which led to her enrollment at the University of Rhode Island.
