Monifa Jansen (born March 3, 1993) is a Curaçaoan who was crowned Miss Curacao Universe 2011 and represented her country in the Miss World 2011 and Miss Universe 2012 pageants.
Monifa Jansen is a young entrepreneur and a veteran of creating and managing digital content for businesses and organizations. Coming from a family of limited wherewithal, she’s had to apprehend the value of recourses at a very young age and learn how to procreate opportunities when there is no availability. Despite choosing law school over business school, Monifa has always had an interest in business and marketing, mainly from experiencing her family struggles.
Originating from Curaçao, a Caribbean island of merely 150k people, she’s managed to become a pioneer in business marketing through social media, working alongside major corporations that endorse her island globally.
Her career as a model started when she participated in the local Miss Universe Curaçao pageant in 2011, which she won. Following her success in the local pageant, she acquired the role to represent her nation in both Miss World 2011 and Miss Universe 2012 which is a rarity. Being a model and traveling the world practicing her craft has broadened her knowledge of the world and how to properly advertise a brand.
As a woman of color in the modeling world, she has learned that when one door closes, it is not to be considered a failure, but a mere lesson to create your own opportunities. Having faced multiple obstacles in her modeling career as well as in her personal life she has been determined to create a platform of her own, focusing primarily on the audience that she feels isn’t being properly represented by the mainstream market.
Being passionate about marketing, along with her prolonged desire to make a difference, prompted her to launch her own line of merchandise. Her first venture in business is promoting her name, which she’s managed to grow into a brand, using her social media platform, and start her first company at age 24. Monifa is a creator, an influencer, a content developer and an advocate for black woman in business. She is certainly a Slaylebrity to be reckoned with.
