A few years ago I was on top of the world my life was perfect, at the age of 28 I had everything I ever wanted, the extravagant holidays, the luxury lifestyle. I was basically living large and on top of world.
I was appointed the director of a company which had discovered large amounts of natural gas and oil. My role was to get the funding to get this company to production and if I Did I was expected to receive a 250 million USD payout and more.
I couldn’t stop dreaming of the houses, the private jets I was going to buy, my dreams were literally so vivid they were intoxicating.
I would wake up everyday trembling with excitement as I had always planned to be close to a billion usd before I was 30, which was incredulous to most seeing as I was female.
Cut down to the losses, in my quest for the financing I had already secured the funds required via a finance bank in Dubai, while we were negotiating terms I was contacted by a well known company based in London offering to finance our company and offering much better terms than the finance house. I stupidly signed a contract with this group that would require upfront payments, despite the fact that upfront payments usually send alarm bells in my mind I forged ahead because the terms were just too amazing and anyway I had done my due diligence and this was a well known group listed on Bloomberg. Or so I thought….
It turned out these were scammers who had infiltrated the email of the real company, I ended up losing over 2 million USD.
I was devastated for months, embarrassed and totally out of it for a long time, plus of course I lost my position as director of this company
However I didn’t let this setback stop me from living my dream. I set up a new company in a totally different industry (luxury fashion and lifestyle) indeed my family was shocked at the way I managed to Bounce back in such a short period of time, however no one believed such a business could generate any real returns. Within a short period of time I was able to generate all the funds lost and more, there are months my new company reached up to $15,000,000 in profit as we sell extremely expensive custom wear.
The point is anything is achievable, never give up on your dreams follow your dreams and your path, don’t listen to the naysayers, don’t let unfortunate events slow you down either , indeed it’s a rite of passage if you want to make it big. When you lose don’t cry, crying is for losers, let your failure and loss be your fuel for the next best thing.
