With cooler weather on the horizon and no skiing trip booked until the spring, where better to get your alpine fix than at one of London’s fondue restaurants.
From The Cheese Bar’s indulgent Camden number to Le Bab’s fun take on the oozy dish, scroll on for some serious cheese porn…

Heritage
Since its opening back in 2019, there’s been serious hype around Heritage’s lavish fondues. And we’re here to confirm that they are indeed worth it all!
These guys don’t just stop at one fondue, they have two cheesy options (plus a sweet) for groups to enjoy. Go simple with the traditional cheese fondue served with bread, baby potatoes and pickles or try out their classic fondue with rich black truffle.
If you aren’t fondue-d out, then their sweet fondue is a must. Think melting chocolate with homemade marshmallows, fresh fruits and donuts – yum.

Champagne + Fromage
Champagne + Fromage have a whole section on their menu dedicated to melted cheese but right now we only have eyes for the fondue. Suitable for two, their cancoillotte fondue comes with Montbeliarde sausage, potatoes and bread for dipping into the gooey goodness.

Le Bab
Le Bab has cracked the code. They’ve mastered the posh kebab and it involves a big helping of melty fondue. Order one of their ‘dirty bab’ kebabs, a pork shawarma that’s slow cooked for 15 hours with chilli pork jus, spicy sauerkraut, fries and slathered in their signature fondue sauce.
For the vegans out there, fear not. They have you covered with their vegan version made with Beyond Meat vegan ragu, french fries, sandwich pickles, vegan mayo and vegan fondue on their homemade sourdough naan.
Fondue but not as you know it.

St Moritz
Sure, their website might not be the prettiest but that doesn’t stop St Moritz being one of the greatest restaurants in London serving up fondue. They are after all the oldest Swiss restaurant in the capital.
Their menu is packed with eight different types of fondue, including one sweet chocolate option, so whatever you fancy dripping into your cheesy mix, you know for sure it’s going to be delicious.

Haugen
The winter Olympics may be about to begin over in Beijing, but here winter just met the Olympics over in Stratford with alpine restaurant, Haugen.
The East London Bauhaus-inspired structure rises above Endeavour Square and serves Mountain Fondue, which comes with sourdough, new potatoes and pickles and Tartiflette with reblochon, bacon and potato.
If that’s not enough cheese for one sitting (hint: it probably is), why not order some Raclette, or hit the sausage, as it were, with Vienna Schnitzel served with warm potato salad and lingonberries?
For après ski head upstairs to the rooftop bar and take in the Olympic Park, and raise a glass to the original Haugen, an unsung hero of the first Winter Olympics in 1924.
