Esteemed Parents of Nigeria, It’s Time to Armor Our Daughters!

This is a clarion call from Professor Ifeoma Okoye. It’s a wake-up trumpet. It’s a battle hymn for an army of purpose-driven Parents across Nigeria. We are fighting for an opportunity that promises the best form of ROI – Life!

From the 25th to the 30th of September 2023, our little warriors aged 9-14 have an opportunity to be part of an invaluable endeavor, an epoch-making health campaign unfolding in the 16 Phase 1 states across our great nation – Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Enugu, Jigawa, Kano, Kebbi, Lagos, Nassarawa, Ogun, Osun, Taraba, and the FCT. And we, as their impervious shields, must not let this slip through their tiny fingers!

Imagine a kinder future for our daughters, a future where the dread of cervical cancer is a mere story from the past, a phantom that once haunted but now, relegated to the history books. Only those aware of the giant strides medical science has taken can comprehend the enormity of this benefit.

Behold, the HPV vaccine! A vanguard against cancers, warts, and various other diseases that can strike down our princesses in their prime! We, the mighty parents of Nigeria, possess the power to ward off this dread for our daughters and cast it into oblivion… at absolutely zero cost! Are we not the lucky generals?

Throughout human history, the battles we fight have evolved. No longer do we wage war with swords and spears. Today, our most potent weapon is knowledge! Awareness will be our salve, and with it, we can inoculate our daughters against a threat more insidious and less predictable than any we’ve faced.

All Primary Healthcare Centers and General hospitals across the 16 Phase 1 states have been fortified for this purpose. The command is given; all we need do as generals is marshal our little troops to these citadels of health.

As parents, we understand investments – the efforts we put in today for a rewarding tomorrow. Time and again, we tire ourselves investing in stocks, bonds, real estate, even cryptocurrency. Great as these may turn out, none guarantees the ultimate precious return – life!

Life is priceless. Investing in the life of someone you love is the most risk-free, fail-safe investment you can ever embark upon. It guarantees wealth, not of the pocket, but of the heart. So, parents of Nigeria, one question remains – Are we ready to make the smartest investment of our life?

Spread the word, fellow Parents. Let every school platform know, let our communities murmur this with anticipation. Together, let’s protect our daughters, let’s invest in life!

Where you ask? In all our Primary Healthcare Centers, and General hospitals across our land.

When you ask? From the 25th to the 30th of September 2023.

Who you ask? Our daughters aged 9 – 14 years.

Parents of Nigeria, let’s write history with indelible ink. Let’s unleash our might and protect our daughters. It’s our fight, are you in?

From *25th – 30th Sept 2023.* In all Primary Healthcare Centers, and General hospitals across *the 16 Phase 1 states* (Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Enugu, Jigawa, Kano, Kebbi, Lagos, Nassarawa, Ogun, Osun, Taraba and FCT). Invest in life of return!!

To the Stakeholders with issues to this campaign

Listen up, if we’re going to dive into this, let’s do it right, let’s get the facts straight without getting our wires crossed. Let’s not be quick to point fingers without conveniently recognizing the intricacies of healthcare delivery. If you think distributing the HPV vaccine is as simple as popping over to your local grocer for a loaf of bread, then I dare say you’re painfully mistaken.

Let’s draw a scenario. They roll it out to every state at the same time, only for some girls to miss out due to issues with logistics, capacity or whatever the case might be. What then? We’d be screaming negligence, having a field day with social media uproar, never missing the chance to chastise the government for not knowing their left from their right.

The government’s approach – to phase it – allows for smoother logistical operations and strategic resource allocation. This endeavour isn’t about favoritism, it’s about practicality and efficiency. It’s about ensuring accessibility and effectiveness of the HPV vaccine to every eligible girl-child, regardless of where they reside.

And hey, stakeholders, put faith in the sovereign efforts of your government. You’ve got a voice, yes, but be swift to ask questions and provide solutions, don’t simply dwell in stirring the pot of discontent. It’s a collective fight, not a spectacle in the colosseum for the entertainment of naysayers.

A delay is FAR from a denial, keep that in mind. If we can band together and weather the twists and turns of this journey, no girl-child will have to wait till 2004 or whenever next. Nigeria, let’s get the job done, no time for mischief, only for progress.

Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it sure stood the test of time. Patience, is always a good approach
