Happy birthday Dad,

I never tire of recounting the story of our first business trip to Abuja to knock some sense into PPMC in 2017.

Naturally, we arrived late at NNPC’s office and their elevators looked about as reliable as their penchant for prompt payment.

The only alternative was to ascend a comically steep and long stairwell to the top of the building.

I remember Ime and I gleefully turning to head back to the car when you made the swiftest of beelines, briefcase in hand and decked out in a suit, for the stairs and sprinted up, knees high, to the summit- leaving Ime and I in wordless awe.

Crazy thing, when I finally lumbered my way up the stairs and flopped into the meeting room, sweating and panting, you looked as fresh as a daisy.

I knew then that there were levels to the often touted but scarcely attained elixir of commitment, tenacity and doggedness.

You reminded me of that moment last year at the gym in the photo above.

Glad to see that your level remains the standard.

Love you Dad
