Word on the street (the street = the internet, in this case) is that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are *this* close to getting engaged, which begs the question: what will her engagement ring look like? (It also begs the question “OMG will she still star on Suits?!?!” But that’s a different article.)
In all likelihood, Harry will pull a William and propose with a family ring—and he has a few options to pick from. Not only do his grandmother and great-grandmother have beautiful diamonds, his mother Princess Diana’s ring collection was pretty vast. Potential options we sleuthed out include:

We can't keep still!

The Queen's Sapphire and Diamond Ring

Similar to the engagement ring Prince William gave to Kate Middleton, the Queen has been known to wear a sapphire and diamond ring of her own—though this one is heavier on the diamonds. It might be slightly weird for Harry to give Meghan a ring that looks so similar to Kate's, but stranger things have happened.

The Queen's Engagement Ring

The Queen's engagement ring was taken from diamonds on a tiara owned by Phillip's mother (so romantic). If Harry were to use this piece, it would involve the Queen forfeiting it during her lifetime—pretty uncommon in families who pass rings down generation to generation, but not unheard of.

The Queen Mother's Engagement Ring

When the Duke of York proposed to The Queen Mother (AKA Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon), he presented her with a sapphire ring flanked by two diamonds. She eventually stopped wearing it, which brings us to....

The Queen Mother's Replacement Ring

In her golden years, the Queen Mother switched up her look and started wearing a pearl ring surrounded by diamonds. This thing is massive, and it would be truly amazing if Meghan Markle started casually wearing it.

Princess Diana's Eternity Band

During her early days in the press, Princess Diana was often seen with a diamond eternity band on her right hand. She paired it with a simple gold band on her pinkie finger, which was given to her by her parents on her 18th birthday. The diamond band would make a simple, chic, and elegant option for Meghan Markle.

Princess Diana's Aquamarine Ring

Aquamarine would certainly be an unusual choice for an engagement ring, but if Harry wants to propose with something of his mother's, this would be a good bet. Diana wore the emerald-cut ring to an auction of her clothes at Christie's in 1997, as well as a 1996 gala dinner in Australia (pictured here)
