Nicole Richie celebrated Father’s Day on Sunday with with photos of her self-proclaimed “favorite men in the world” — her father, Lionel Richie, husband, Joel Madden, and their 6-year-old son, Sparrow.
The 34-year-old mother of two commemorated the occasion with an adorable snap of the three men, all dressed in black.
Earlier this month, the Simple Life star told ET that her family wouldn’t physically be together on Father’s Day, but they were still planning on celebrating later this year.
“This Father’s Day, my dad’s not here and Joel’s not here, so what we’re going to do is celebrate it later on,” she told ET’s Nischelle Turner. “We’ll probably do it in July, and we’ll probably just do all one big family — just get everybody together. Because that’s what both of them like to do, they both like to just be surrounded by family.”
Despite the separation, the family found a way to bridge the gap through social media on Sunday. Another photo posted by the fashion maven was an intimate throwback of Richie and Madden with their daughter Harlow, now 8, as a baby.
Richie added a meaningful caption to Madden, her husband of more than five years: “Thank you for making me a mommy,” she wrote. “Thank you for encouraging our children to be human instead of perfect. And thank you for your unconditional love, patience, & acceptance. I hope our son turns out to be just like you.”
