This flying fascinator is part of the Carnivorous Plants collection; choose from butterfly or dragonflies. Hats inspired by the hungry plants found all over the world who are nourished by insects and small animals. This hat is an abstraction inspired by the pitcher plant, found across the world.This sneaky plant attracts insects with a pool of sweet nectar that ensnares them and makes their wings useless, the ribbed edge of their pitcher also makes it impossible for them to climb out.

The base of the hat is made of buckram that is then covered in silk and hand painted. The lining of the hat is a contrasting purple silk. The dragonflies or butterflies are made from specially printed PVC and cotton organza which are attached together to give the effect of wings moving. The dragonflies/ butterflies are perched on suspended millinery wire, giving the hat a special bounce and movement. It is kept on the head with an elastic band.
