For the last two years, we have been forced to stay inside and not talk to people face to face.
Did you adjust your business accordingly?
If not, then keep reading, because what worked a couple years ago on social media is no longer working. And what was working face to face is no longer available.
I am going to share with you three of the biggest mistakes network marketers make on social media so you can avoid them and maximize your time and create more results.
I have made every single one of these mistakes that I am talking about.
So, I am speaking from experience and not trying to judge anyone.
I want to help you avoid making them and point you in the right direction.
STOP CHASING YOUR PROSPECTS
The first mistake is you are chasing everyone and applying old school face to face strategies to online prospecting.
When a new network marketer comes to social media trying to promote their opportunity or products, you see them trying to use the old school face to face prospecting strategies. And they expect them to work the same way.
But they end up learning the hard way that it does not actually work.
Most of you came to social media and your upline told you “just talk to more people. That’s where people are right now, on social media 24/7. The people will come, just post your products and start talking to more people.”
Then you see a month or two goes by and no ones coming.
Instead of chasing people or trying to apply the same strategies to social media, you have to learn how to attract the right people to you.
Stop chasing everyone, because not everyone is your perfect prospect, and learn how to attract those people who are already looking for what your offering.
YOU ARE NOT YOUR COMPANY
The second mistake I see is that network marketers are treating their social media profiles like they are their company’s billboard.
I am guilty of doing that myself.
Social media is not where people come to buy stuff.
Yes, we end up buying a lot of things we see on social media, but that’s not why they come onto social media.
They come to check on their friends, to socialize, to get entertained, to get educated.
They don’t wake up in the morning and think to themselves “oh I’m going to go on Instagram because I need toothpaste”.
If all they see from you is sales posts then they will get bored.
You want to follow the 80/20 rule. You want 20% of your posts to be business related and 80% percent of your posts should be about normal life.
But even though you are not directly posting about your opportunity or product, you can still create posts that will help attract those people to it.
BUILD THE RELATIONSHIP
The third mistake that I see is when network marketers interact with new people the first thing they do is pitch their product or opportunity.
What they are missing is building the relationship. You have to build the know, like and trust.
We are in a business of relationships. People buy from people they know.
So you need to learn how to transform those small conversations into business conversations without being a salesy weirdo.
CREATE MORE RESULTS
So the three mistakes you need to avoid are:
1. Don’t chase the masses. Stop chasing people and learn to attract the right prospects to you
2. Stop being a billboard for your company. You will repel people who could be your perfect customer.
3. Take time to build relationships with people that come into your network.
If you can do that, then you will create a lot more results in a faster timeframe.
