What’s up, people. If you thought last season was exciting, brace yourself. Real Housewives of Lagos Season 2 just hit the fan, and let me tell you, it’s a whirlwind of spicy drama that’ll boggle your mind in ways you never thought possible!

This supercharged season is rife with drama, intrigue, and more gossip than you can shake a stick at. But amidst all the flying weaves and stiletto stabbings, something rather peculiar has caught my attention. And no, I’m not talking about the ostentatious lifestyle and the eye-watering bling that our ladies from Lagos love to flaunt (that’s a whole other conversation).

I’m talking about the retention of Chioma Ikokwu. Yes, the very same entrepreneur and co-founder of luxury hair brand, “Good Hair Ltd.” Sure, Chioma is an influential character and brings a certain raw energy, I won’t deny that, but here’s the million-dollar question: Why is a woman, neither a wife nor an ex-wife, the centerpiece in a show about… well… housewives?

It’s almost as if the producers are hell-bent on confusing us. Either it’s a housewives show or it isn’t. If they wanted a show about successful, high-powered Nigerian women – power to them! But hey, at least get the name right. But here we are, eagerly lapping up every episode, despite the blaring irony the title presents. Bizarre, don’t you think?

I mean, the show’s premise is skewed. The logic behind their chosen line-up is questionable. But can we disregard the genius, however eccentric, of the producers? Chioma is a firecracker and probably more attention-grabbing than most housewives, so it does seem like they know what they’re doing.

However, we all know there’s a certain authenticity in keeping true to the fact that a show about housewives should, at the very least, predominantly feature housewives. It’s almost as if the showrunners are saying “Yeah, we know it’s a bit retarded, but… ratings!”

But let’s not get totally carried away by the questionable casting. The show is a magnet for exotically charged thrill, gloriously splaying the luxurious and unapologetic lifestyle of the Nigerian perceived top crust. It’s a real roller coaster, and love her or hate her, Chioma Ikokwu gives us some six-flag moments!

So buckle up, brace yourselves, and let’s dive into this dichotomy head-first. The Real Housewives of Lagos Season 2 are back with a bang, and they’re serving a heaping dose of Nigerian reality TV spice that’s too hot to resist! There are two new housewives and they both look feisty. One of them is Tania Omotayo CEO of Ziva Lagos and Ziva Kids whose husband Olasumbo was arrested in 2021 by the EFCC For internet fraud. Of course you can’t have a reality tv show in Nigeria without illicit funds in the mix.

PS: Caroline Danjuma will not be returning and we don’t blame her for not wanting to taint her image further.

One thing’s for sure: With ladies like Chioma at the helm, you’re either in for a wildly entertaining ride or a terribly confusing one. Either way, you won’t be bored. Enjoy, my friends.
