Waiters show off their impressive speedy skating skills while delivering food in a Chinese restaurant in the central Chinese city of Yuzhou.

The skilled attendants could be seen whizzing dishes to the impressed customers and back to the kitchen.

“Serving customers while skating is challenging for me, because you need arm strength, balance and skills. In the beginning I have fallen down, [but] gradually, I get used to it,” one waiter explained.

The staff need to be trained skating with plates for months before they can be ready to serve to the customers.

The service of skating came from the demand of high efficiency, now it has developed into a unique and original restaurant service that now attracts customers.

“I have been to this restaurant for several times. I think the environment is good. The service of skating is good. The dishes are good as well. I like this place,” a woman said.

According to the owner of the restaurant, Wang Hongxin, some waiters can allegedly reach 15 metres (29 feet) per second (54km/h).

“We have the strict mechanism on monitoring the safety for the staff. At the moment, there has been zero accidents in 10 years,” Hongxin stated.

I visited this restaurant instituition for a business lunch. The hostess on roller skates whisks you to your table. Note all menus are written in Chinese. Chicken is the specialty, and despite the current bird flu epidemic, we enjoyed the house specialty. The menu seems not to focus on any particular Chinese Cuisine and has influnces from many regions. The steamed Turbot was superb, very nice pickled radish and wonderfully cooked choi sum. Well worth a visit if your`re in the neighborhood.
