Some people might say that when your passive income exceeds your personal expenses, then you are financially free. And some say that you can do whatever you want, wherever you want for as long as you want, without having to worry about money.
That’s what even I used to believe. But there is one most important thing to be noted.
When your investments are doing well, you may feel free as money keeps rolling in. But suddenly when your investments don’t do well, you become ‘less free’.
Changes are happening faster than ever in human history because of rapid technological growth.
Just because you are free today, it doesn’t mean that you will be free tomorrow.
Hence financial freedom is just an illusion. It doesn’t exist!
Instead of aiming for financial freedom, here is what I think we should aim for.
It is nothing but Financial Confidence.
It has nothing to do with what happens externally. It all focuses on you internally.
Meaning that you now have the confidence regardless of what happens to your business/portfolio of investments/what happens in the economy, you are not waiting or hoping for the investments to provide good for you.
Even if you lose everything today, you have the confidence that you can make it back!
That’s called Financial confidence and that’s the true freedom.
Because you know that you can go anywhere, to any city and you can make yourself financially stable because you have the right skills.
Especially to people like me who just have started their professional career, our skills tell what we are capable of and that’s what gives us the peace of mind. We will be able to produce results and deliver value in the marketplace because of the skills that we possess. Hence I strongly believe, Financial Confidence gives us the true Financial Freedom.
