TYPE XX CHRONOGRAPH 2067: THE LINEAGE OF CIVILIAN VERSIONS
This second adventurous timepiece follows in the footsteps of the finest civilian Type XXs of the 1950s and 1960s, in particular a 1957 model bearing the individual number 2988. The dial of the 2067 model features the same galvanic treatment as the 2057, but differs in several respects.
Firstly, its display: the 15-minute counter is located at 3 o’clock, the 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and the running seconds at 9 o’clock. As in the military-inspired version, the size of the counters differs to make the dial more dynamic and legible. The Arabic numerals, hands and triangle on the bezel are coated with an ivory luminescent treatment. The date window appears at 4:30.
The 42 mm-diameter steel case features a fluted, bi-directional graduated bezel. Its classic straight-line crown allows setting in three positions: 1) neutral, 2) date correction, 3) time setting. The push-piece at 2 o’clock starts and stops the chronograph functions, while the push-piece at 4 o’clock resets the chronograph and restarts it immediately, the famous “return to flight”.

ARRIVAL OF THE NEW CALIBER 728
After four years of development at Manufacture Breguet, the brand is pleased to present the new self-winding caliber 728 for the civilian version and 7281 for the military model. Combining robustness and innovation, this movement and its variant have been the subject of several patents.
Not only does it incorporate all the features of a modern chronograph, such as the column wheel, vertical clutch, 5 Hz frequency and innovative reset release system, it also benefits from the latest technical innovations in chronometry.
RETURN TO FLIGHT” FUNCTION
Both models feature a flyback function. Also known as the “Flyback” function, it enables the watch to be reset to zero and a new countdown to be triggered instantaneously. Located at 2 o’clock, the push-button starts timing, while the one at 4 o’clock resets the chronograph to zero and ensures immediate restart with a simple push.
The chronograph hand then immediately restarts from zero for a new count. Without the “return to flight” function, three manipulations would be necessary for this operation.
The new caliber’s innovative triggering and reset systems have been designed to ensure clean, precise operation. Whatever function is used, the pressure exerted on the pushers is even and balanced. As for the vertical clutch mechanism, it was chosen for its precise release.
FINISHES
Finally, an additional asset of this new movement is its aesthetics, since a great deal of work has gone into its decoration. In addition to the soleillage, colimaçonnage, anglage, perlage and other decorations visible on the components, the brand has given the column wheel a black DLC treatment combining contrast and tribological enhancement. The case’s sapphire crystal back reveals the movement’s details, as well as its oscillating weight. The blackened gold oscillating weight takes the shape of an aircraft wing and is engraved with the Breguet logo.
