HOW TO MAKE IT

Alright, champions. Let’s get to it. If you think Okpa is just for our old folks or only found in Nigerian street corners, man, you’ve got it all wrong. Today I’m about to show you how to make Okpa, a traditional dish that packs a punch made from Bambara nuts. It’s not only tasty but protein-packed and highly nutritious. You know what they say: Health is wealth!

Ingredients:

1. 1 kg Bambara nuts
2. Water (as needed)
3. 200ml Fresh Palm Oil
4. Fresh Ground Dry Pepper (to taste)
5. 2 Stock Cubes
6. Salt (to taste)
7. 3 Fresh Peppers
8. Banana leaves or Aluminum foil (for wrapping)

Here’s how it’s going to go down:

Step 1: Soak your Bambara nuts in water for 12 to 18 hours or overnight if you can. This ain’t like a casual cup of tea, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Make sure the nuts are entirely submerged. After soaking, you’re going to rinse and have it milled. If you’re all about that DIY, then use your food processor, but ensure you achieve a smooth paste.

Step 2: Spice things up, bosses! To your Bambara nut paste, add your palm oil, ground pepper, salt, and stock cubes. You stir it all up and make sure it’s well mixed. Remember: the taste you’re after won’t just materialize out of thin air. Details matter!

Step 3: Get yourself the Banana leaves or aluminum foil and scoop in a reasonable quantity of that paste you just mixed. Tie it up securely and dive right into the next one until you run out of the mix.

Step 4: Now, you’re going to cook these babies! Get a big pot, place wraps in it and pour in water to about half the height of the wraps. I recommend covering with a plastic bag or aluminium foil and then securely covering the pot. What we are looking for is to steam these wraps for roughly 1 hour.

Step 5: After an hour, you’re going to check if the Okpa wraps have solidified. Use a knife or fork to poke through, if it goes through without paste coming off on it, boom! You’ve got it. But if it doesn’t, get your patience on as you’ll need to let it steam a bit longer.

There you have it! Sizzling Okpa, the champion’s breakfast! Eat it hot or cold, it’s up to you, but most importantly, enjoy the fruits of your labor. Trust me, once you go Okpa, you never go back!
Keep winning, embrace the grind, enjoy your Okpa: the champion’s meal!

Extra tip

To regard this just slice it in half with the wrap on add some brown sugar, black pepper, Cameroon pepper, and then douse it with sesame oil and ghee, thank me later the result is above and beyond
