A CATERPILLAR cake and a heart-pumping game of musical chairs is the most the majority of us expected for our childhood birthdays.
But while we stuffed our faces with jelly and desperately try to pin that tail on the donkey, there is another world of parties where the donkeys are live – and sometimes sprayed pink to look like unicorns.

The lifestyles of the rich and famous both fascinate and baffle us in equal measure but reports of elaborate £70k farmyard bashes and a custom-built golf courses are the next level in indulgence.
Would Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Blue Ivy have enjoyed the £150k first birthday party more than just a slice of cake and a pat on the back?
Will the £62k it’s thought they spent on her diamond studded Barbie stop her from chewing the toes and popping the head off?

Would P Diddy’s twins actually enjoy the £68k mini Mercedes on their gift list more than one of those yellow and red Little Tikes Cozy Coupe cars that you used to play with round your mate’s house?
For most of us these heady heights of gift giving and party planning are well out of reach.
There are also plenty of us who feel that if we had to make do with small boxes of smarties falling out of pass the parcel packages and suspiciously neon-coloured jelly cups, then our kids should have to too. It never did us any harm…

This opinion is clearly not shared by the stars on our list who have literally blown the budget to make their children’s big days.

The family started as they meant to carry on with a festival themed “Kidchella” party for her first birthday.
North enjoyed a karaoke stage and Ferris wheel and blew out the candles on her three tiered tie-dyed cake.
On her second birthday the tiny tot was joined by the whole family in Disneyland.
While for her third birthday North enjoyed a mermaid themed joint birthday with her cousin Penelope Disick, where the pair dressed up in elabourate mermaid costumes and were entertained by Disney style performers.

The A-list couple held nothing back when planning the party to mark daughter Blue Ivy’s forth year on this earth.
The fantasy themed event had flowers cascading from the ceiling, tiny tepees for the kids and each guest could dress-up in a princess dress and brightly coloured fairy wings – all provided by the hosts.
There were also adult fairies on hand, as well as archery and a make-up station.
For her first birthday the couple were rumoured to have spent £150k on a first birthday party and even splashed out an estimated £62k for diamond studded Barbie.

For Harper’s sixth birthday, Fergie hosted the party in ex-husband Prince Andrew’s private suite while the Queen was in Scotland. Fans were not impressed by the event claiming it was wrong that Beckham should be able to use his Slaylebrity and royal friendships to claim privileges denied ordinary families.

For Jessica Simpson’s son’s fourth birthday she pulled out all the stops with a party based around Disney’s Moana. The elabourate event saw her backyard transformed into the Isle of Te Fiti where the film was set and had dancers and performers dressed to look like the characters. Ace also treated his guests to large party bags, with each kid’s name on the outside. Each sack cost £20 before they had even started putting gifts inside.
