Yes, Dragon Fruit is definitely our Khaleesi of fruit.
I was curious to see what all the fuss was about dragon fruit, also called pirates. I had been seeing it in lots of food blogs and not only is it beautiful but it had such a sweet and light flavor. Similar to a really ripe kiwi. After doing some research I found that it’s indigenous to Central America but is also grown and exported from several Southeast Asian countries, such as Thailand and Vietnam.
Dragon fruit is rich in antioxidants, contains vitamin c, polyunsaturated fats, B vitamins carotene and protein.
Most grocery stores sell dragon fruit and it’s easier than it looks to open. Simply slice it in half and scoop the goodness from the inside. I made those pretty balls with a melon scooper. Have you tried dragon fruit before? Let us know if you try it and what you think of it.
