Sipping her latte and scrolling through her phone. It was a rainy afternoon, and she had been looking forward to spending the day curled up with a good book. However, life had other plans for her when bet husband arrived with a look on his face .

“Rough,” he sighed, collapsing onto the couch. “My boss Jack rode me hard again today. That man is never satisfied.”

“I wish I could be more helpful at the office. Take some pressure off you,” I offered. In truth, I envied the time Scott’s job afforded him with Jack. “Believe me, you don’t want to get on Jack’s bad side,” Scott said. “Better to stay beneath his radar.”
I nodded, but a flicker of intrigue ran through me. I found myself picturing a strong, self-assured Jack dominating me in the bedroom. Sometimes monotony breeds temptation.
Over dinner, Scott revealed hesitantly that Jack had asked us to join him and his wife at an exclusive club that weekend.
“We have to go,” Scott urged. “If I turn down the invitation, I can kiss that promotion goodbye.”
I reluctantly agreed. Jack’s fiery, controlling persona stirred feelings in me that I wasn’t proud of. But Scott needed this opportunity. I would smile through the evening, ignoring Jack’s smoldering looks for both our sakes.
