Instead of getting all dolled up for a viewing party in Hollywood, Kourtney Kardashian spent Oscar Sunday chilling with her daughter Penelope at home. According to an Instagram she shared on Monday, Kourt watched the show in a bathrobe while her 4-year-old napped beside her. “Our Oscar Sunday. Yes, that’s a lip ring. Thanks @kimkardashian,” she wrote in the caption, referring to Penelope’s Kim Kardashian-inspired lip accessory. Kim has been sporting a lip ring in recent months ever since debuting it at Kris Jenner’s annual holiday party in December.
While it’s unclear whether or not Penelope was wearing a real or fake lip ring on Oscar Sunday, haters went after Kourt and criticized her mothering skills online. “Why would you put that on a child?” asked one concerned Instagram user, while another wrote, “When I was her age I wasn’t even allowed to wear nail polish.” It went on all day, and even got to the point where folks were confusing Penelope for her 7-year-old brother Mason, who also has long hair.
As fans and haters continue to discuss whether or not the ring is real and not over say, the current political climate in the U.S., here’s one supporter’s warning for little Penelope. “Adorable. But beware of those things (I’m assuming it’s magnetic) will fuck up her teeth if worn too long.” Apologies if this has created some weird feeling in your mouth, like the thing that happens when you bite on a spoon too hard or you accidentally bite the aluminum foil that’s holding your homemade sandwich.
