A new documentary has examined the ‘epic rivalry’ between Jay Z and Kanye West that’s led to one of the biggest falling outs in music history.
Public Enemies: Jay Z v Kanye will chart the “meteoric rise and colossal falling out of two of the world’s most iconic popstars”.

The one-off, hour-long documentary on Channel 4 features home videos, unseen footage and exclusive interviews with the people who know them best – to get the bottom of exactly why one of the biggest duos in hip hop history fell out.
And it looks like Kanye’s marriage to Kim Kardashian could be the root of the problem.

“It does really seem like Jay-Z and Beyonce have distanced themselves from Kanye since he’s been together with Kim,” writer Julianne Escobedo Shepherd agreed.
And after Kim was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, the cracks in their relationship started to show.
In his first public appearance after the robbery he launched a scathing attack on Jay Z for his lack of brotherly support.
He said: ‘”Don’t call me, after the robbery, and say ‘how you feelin?’ You wanna know how I’m feelin? Come by the house. Bring the kids by the house. Like we’re brothers. Let’s sit down.”

Then in November 2016, he launched into a 17 minute speech at the S aint Pablo Tour concert in Sacramento, California that went from praising Donald Trump to asking Jay Z not to have him assassinated.
Coodie Simmons, Filmmaker and friend of Kanye said: “I was watching it and then just I don’t even and right in the middle of it I started praying for him because something’s not right and sure enough he went to hospital after that.”
Hours later, Kanye was hospitalised following a reported psychological breakdown.
Kanye’s support of Trump was seen as his latest public trolling of Jay-Z who very publicly supported Hilary Clinton.
But it doesn’t mean that they’re over and they could still surprise us with a reunion in the future.
MK Asante, professor and writer said: “They’re stronger together, they’re more powerful together, when they come together and make magic, I think if anything we as a hip hop community need them to be together.”
