Well, that was quick. Only six weeks after David Bakhtiari put his Tarzana mansion on the market with a seemingly aggressive $6.3 million asking price, the Green Bay Packer’s house has sold for nearly $6.2 million. Records reveal the buyer is Angelica Nwandu, founder and owner of The Shade Room, a majorly successful internet-focused media company the New York Times has called the “TMZ of Instagram.”
The lofty sale price means Bakhtiari walked with a $2.3 million profit — before taxes, maintenance fees and closing costs — an impressive figure made even more impressive considering he owned the house for less than three years and made few changes to the premises. Built in 2019 by a developer on speculation, Bakhtiari picked the hard-edged modern mansion up in early 2020, when it was still brand-new.
Sited on a quiet hillside street, the 7,000-square-foot home offers six bedrooms, all of them with ensuite full bathrooms. In addition to the main residence, the nearly half-acre property also includes two detached accessory buildings, one of them currently configured as a gym and the other as a pool house, complete with a convenient full bathroom.
The property is also entirely walled and gated, and a circular motorcourt can easily accommodate a half-dozen cars. Guests will be awed by the 24-foot-tall foyer, which flaunts a floating staircase hewn entirely from glass and steel, plus a fireplace-equipped family room adjoining a gourmet kitchen complete with two islands and premium Miele, Wolf and Thermador appliances. No word yet about where Bakhtiari, one of the highest-paid offensive linemen in NFL history, is moving. As for Nwandu, she still maintains another luxury home in L.A.’s Sherman Oaks neighborhood, acquired just last year for $3.4 million.
