Giant Red Flower Headpiece, Rafflesia Fascinator

Giant Red Flower Headpiece, Rafflesia Fascinator – This giant red flower headpiece is part of the Carnivorous Plants collection; hats inspired by the hungry plants found all over the world who are nourished by insects and small animals. This hat is inspired by the Rafflesia flower, which is actually a parasite and not carnivorous, but gives off the smell of rotting flesh. Don’t worry though, we didn’t recreate the smell for the headpiece! Turn heads at any event with this dramatic and elegant fascinator.

The petals of the flower are hand bleached raw silk with wire inside, so you can adjust how the petals fall. The center of the flower includes a hand painted praying mantis, perched atop a buckram base covered in pleated silk. The inner circle of the fascinator is a dyed and stretched wool base that has been meticulously hand beaded with sparkling red bead standing up the air. The lining, is a bright contrasting green silk for one last surprise on an already surprising hat. It is all kept on the head with an elastic band.
