George Clooney has said he is “happy and excited” about becoming a father to twins this summer.
He and his wife, Amal Clooney, announced the news earlier this month. The actor’s mother, Nina Clooney, has confirmed that they are having a boy and a girl.
“We are really happy and really excited,” he said on the French television show Rencontres de Cinéma. “It’s going to be an adventure. We’ve sort of embraced it all… with arms wide open.”
He described how he told his friends over dinner – much to their amusement.
“It got really quiet,” he said. “And they all just started making baby-crying noises and the whole table just busted up laughing.”
By the time Clooney becomes a father, he’ll be 56 – so he’s taking inspiration from the French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo, who had a child with his second wife, Nathalie Tardivel, when he was 70.
“So, I’m feeling a little better about being 56 by the time [they arrive]” he said.
He and Amal Clooney are expecting twins in June.
