On Thursday afternoon, President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. will pull out of the Paris climate agreement. Designed to curb the effects of climate change worldwide, the international accord is “very unfair, at the highest level, to the United States,” Trump said in a White House Rose Garden speech.

“As someone who cares deeply about our environment — which I do — I cannot in good conscience support a deal that punishes the United States,” he said, announcing that he would try to renegotiate the deal more to his liking.
