London might not be short of sensational spas, but when news drops that Claridge’s is unveiling its first ever spa, we get excited.

Yesterday saw the London hotel institute announce the opening of its brand new spa. Situated three floors down, Claridge’s Spa is set to be the most iconic opening of the year. The space will be home to its first ever swimming pool, steam rooms, sauna and seven treatment rooms.
Drawing influences from the East, the spa has been designed by interior architect Andre Fu. From the moment you step inside the monochrome lobby you’ll feel at ease, with time feeling as though it moves slower inside this wellness sanctuary. The design is reminiscent of Japanese temples and Zen gardens in Kyoto, using natural elements like limestone, wood and water to create the same feeling.

The swimming pool takes centre stage, framed by the multi-vaulted ceiling and stone columns. One dip in here and you’ll feel the stresses of everyday life slip away. You’ll find cabanas set back from the water, offering a moment of privacy and a space to unwind.
One dip in here and you’ll feel the stresses of everyday life slip away.
Expect a calming space showcasing healing rituals, a knowledge of restorative body work and the latest bio-innovation to amplify emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing. The space will of course pay homage to Claridge’s signature five star offering, so you can expect touches of timeless glamour at every corner.
Every experience begins with guests being presented with kimonos and a welcoming foot ceremony. Inspired by temple Koh-do ceremonies, every guest will be offered the chance to select an incense of choice pre-treatment to help cleanse the mind and aid relaxation.
The treatment rooms are oak panelled and ensuite, with each treatment personalised to the individual. They are inspired by the ancient concept of omakase – ‘leaving another to decide what is best’. Their two signature treatments include a Bamboo & Silk Ritual, a 90-minute full body massage with warmed bamboo sticks to work deep into the muscles and ends with a silk facial, and a Body Detox & Sculpt, a 75-minute sculpting treatment that targets areas like the thighs, abdomen and upper arms.

As ever, Claridge’s has selected the best resident brands to join them on this new journey, including Josh Wood at Claridge’s, a brand space dedicated to hair and beauty. Expect A-list treatments spanning hair, nails and beauty from top stylists, with colour and makeup available on request.
Other big names include FaceGym, who will be offering treatments designed exclusively for the hotel; award-winning Augustinus Bader, who will bring The Method Augustinus Bader, a new series of bespoke professional treatments; and La Eva, the organic brand from former psychologist Louisa Canham who has created a collection of uplifting body treatments. As well as an evolving roster of visiting experts, including Instagram sensation nail artist Harriet Westmoreland and beauty editor favourite acupuncturist Ross J. Barr.
All that’s left to say is: when can we book in?
CLARIDGE’S SPA IS OPEN TO BOTH HOTEL AND OUTSIDE GUESTS, MONDAY-SUNDAY 8AM-9PM.
