Bella Hadid loves her sneakers. Her love for kicks runs so deep, in fact, that she easily dropped over a thousand dollars on some new pairs for the latest installment of Complex’s Sneaker Shopping series. In the video (in which she wears a pair of rare, customized Off-White x Air Jordan 1s), the athleisure-obsessed model talks about her relationship with the footwear.
“When I moved to New York, I signed with Nike, and I only wore Nike,” she explained. “I just really only have Nikes in my closet now.” The 20-year-old scored a deal with the athletic company last fall. Now, she has about 200 pairs of sneakers in her closet from that brand alone.
But what about other trendy kicks, like Kanye West’s Yeezys? “My mom took those and I got really mad at her,” Hadid recalled. “I was like, those are some collectors’ sh*t, you know?'”
Bella isn’t the only one in her family with a sneaker deal; her older sister Gigi is also signed with Reebok. When asked if there was any friendly competition between the siblings, Hadid answered, “No, no competition. I just would not want to be with any other sneaker company.”
Ultimately, the model left with eight pairs of new sneakers, ranging from $60-$180 each, for a total tab of $1,157.54. (That’s nowhere near the highest total on Sneaker Shopping. Gucci Mane spent over $2,500; Rick Ross spent upwards of $4,000; Soccer star Neymar set the record at over $18,000.)
