If the dark nights are beginning to grate on you, we’ve found the perfect solution to help add some colour to your winter. Introducing Battersea Power Station’s Light Festival, a six-week-long free festival celebrating illuminating artwork. 
Returning for its third year to London’s most exciting riverside neighbourhood, Battersea Power Station’s Light Festival is hoping to brighten up your dark dreary evenings with its most extensive collection of installations to date – no ticket required! 

Running until the 5th of March, expect bursts of colour, rainbow illuminations and masterpieces curated in partnership with the Light Art Collection on display both outdoors and inside the Grade II* listed Power Station. Read on to find out more about the best free activity to do in London this winter… 
So, what can we expect?
Every winter sees Battersea Power Station light up to help bring some fun to this cold time of year, and this year’s festival is the biggest and brightest yet. The iconic Grade II* listed Power Station, which opened its doors to the public for the first time in history in October 2022, alongside Electric Boulevard, a new pedestrianised high street, have welcomed eight spectacular pieces of artwork. 
Stroll around the riverside neighbourhood – click here for their handy map –  stopping by light installations from the giant illuminated bath plug ‘Badstop’ by Atelier Haute Cuisine, raising awareness around the importance of clean water and the prevention of waste, to Studio Veritgo’s vibrant, rainbow-coloured giant slinky ‘End Over End’. 

Returning for the third year is the popular ‘Eternal Sundown’ by Mads Vegas, which uses 140 energy-saving LED tubes to create a post-apocalyptic sunset along The Coaling Jetty, reflecting onto the River Thames with the Power Station in the backdrop. 
Feeling chilly? Head over to the pop-up food huts and trucks to warm up with dishes and drinks from the likes of Cheese King, Chipsy, Fondue Power, Queen of Crepes, Roti King and Simply Hot Roast –

Which artists will be showcasing their work?
Joining the works from Atelier Haute Cuisine, Mads Vegas and Studio Vertigo will be ‘Moonburn’ by Stichting Barstow. Making its UK debut, Stichting Barstow’s work imitates the moon and has been decorated with fluorescent paint to connect the moon with the craziness of the city, the lights and the crowds. It’ll be charged with the energy radiated by the city. 

Will there be any other highlights?
It’s not a trip to Battersea Power Station without some Insta-worthy food highlights and the Light Festival is bringing them in full force. As well as the food huts and trucks, Battersea Power Station’s restaurants and bars are also going all out with exclusive offers. 
Enjoy half-price cocktails at Birdies from 3-7pm everyday or head to Fiume for 20% off the Disaronno cocktail menu from 4-6pm on Monday – Friday before exploring the light installations as it gets dark. Head to the newly opened TOZI Grand Cafe at art’otel London Battersea Power Station for delicious Italian cuisine and 20% of food Monday – Friday during the festival when you quote ‘Light Festival’.
Where The Pancakes Are will be treating you to pancakes and £7 cocktails between 5-7pm every single day (served with a side of bottomless popcorn); sip £5 cocktails when dining at Le Bab from Sunday – Friday from 12-6pm; or celebrate Happy Hour at Megan’s at the Power Station with a selection of £5 cocktails from 4-7pm Monday – Friday.

What else can we expect from Battersea Power Station?
The Light Festival isn’t just everything Battersea Power Station has to offer. Following their epic reopening in October, there’s so much to do, see and explore at this thriving London neighbourhood. 
From Levi’s to Ralph Lauren, Uniqlo to ZARA, spend the whole day here exploring the great mix of British and international brands or warm up in one of their many restaurants and bars. Explore the city from above at the new immersive chimney lift experience, Lift 109, before catching a film at The Cinema in The Power Station. 
There’s plenty more to come too, including the highly-anticipated Arcade Food Hall opening, plus lots of exciting events popping up throughout 2023. For now, get your culture fix at this season’s coolest free light festival before it finishes in March.
