Mom and Dad are finally back from vacation. Yesterday Barack and Michelle Obama were photographed together for the first time since returning from their Virgin Islands getaway. (Barack made a quick cameo in New York last month, looking refreshed from a much-needed break.)
The Obamas enjoyed a trip to the National Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. on Sunday and waved to onlookers as they exited the museum. And while the outing marked their return to daily life in the capital, it also signaled another beginning: the former president’s new style. Exhibit A: the leather jacket.

Sure, every dad owns a brown leather jacket. But it’s refreshing to see Obama sport the outerwear after eight years of constant suits. And look! He’s replaced his mom jeans with a pair of polished dark-wash denims and traded in the running shoes for some lace-up oxfords. Not to mention Joe Biden would be proud of his sunglasses game. Plus he shamelessly toted a printed shopping bag—a classic dad move.
Also let’s not look over Michelle, who served us two terms of chic-yet-approachable First Lady fashion. She opted for all-black-everything, layering a relaxed oversized cardigan over a turtleneck and fitted jeans. She didn’t skimp on accessories either—oversized sunglasses, hoop earrings, stacked bracelets and a leather handbag completed the look.

They seem to be having a leisurely time while Trump is fussing over accusing the former POTUS and his administration of wire-tapping phone calls. Oh well
