Koenigsegg Agera R was produced between 2011 and 2014. 18 copies of the Agera R were produced during this period.

The Agera R has built on the features and functionality of the Agera with new and unique solutions to further enhance performance and visual appeal.

Improvements included: visible carbon on the hood and front bumper, new front side wings, an all-new Aero exhaust system, increased engine power with a higher rpm limit.

Koenigsegg was the first Hypercar manufacturer to take steps towards green technology with the launch of CCXR biofuel in 2007. The Agera R, based on the critically acclaimed Agera, follows in the footsteps of CCXR because it also runs on biofuel.

The Agera R features an improved fuel and engine management system that allows it to run on a 95 octane biofuel at 100 euros, or any intermediate blend. The engine management system senses the fuel mixture and can adjust engine operation « on the fly ».

The Agera R’s fuel system has sufficient flow capacity to generate 1140 hp and 1200 Nm of torque with the biofuels E85 and E100. Since these biofuels contain less energy per volume given than normal gasoline, the fuel system must handle a similar flow rate as a 2000 hp gasoline engine, which means the Agera R’s no-return fuel system had the largest capacity of any car in production at the time.

Since the 95 octane fuel has less octane than E85 ethanol, power is reduced to 960 hp with a torque of 1,100 Nm, as the boost pressure and ignition timing are modified to match the fuel characteristics.

In order to give the Agera R maximum power flexibility, Koenigsegg has implemented the latest technology in materials and turbo design. This reduces the inertia of the turbine wheel and shaft, resulting in improved response.

The Agera R also saw the debut of Koenigsegg’s proprietary ceramic piston brake system.

In 2011, the Agera R set a new world driving record at 0-300-0 km/h. The time of 21.19 seconds was only eclipsed in 2015 by the Koenigsegg One:1
